Hikari Sushi & Omakase: An Unforgettable Culinary Journey in Davis

Delicious sushi with a good drink menu. Staff is friendly. Restaurant is clean and decorated nicely. Good vibe and relaxing feel.

I loved everything in the omakase experience! We chose to sit on the standard table for a Saturday night. There were only about 12 people seated. Service started right away and started bringing out amazing pieces of art to our table. You can definitely taste the great quality of their ingredients and you can tell how passionate the chefs were at creating their dishes. They explained what each plate was, where it’s from and how it’s made. Definitely worth a try for special occasions. They also ask if you have allergies and are able to substitute dishes.

Very tasty omakase. I enjoyed the chutoro very much. Perfect ratio of fish to rice for their nigiri.

I had the omakase experience with my girlfriend. The food was excellent: a top quality, fresh, well-balanced menu. Dishes were authentic and a good representation of Japanese cuisine. I had been to many top omakase restaurants (mostly in NYC) and this one didn't fail to impress. Big shout out to the chef and the team. On the service side, there is room to improve. Day of the experience I had a health issue and desperately tried for many hours to contact the restaurant. I sent emails, texts on Facebook, submitted a question on Yelp, and called multiple times. They don't have a voicemail set up. All day they didn't reply, and I was quite upset. Only about an hour before my reservation, they picked up the phone. And still they refused to reschedule my reservation because they require a 48 hours notice because all the fish had been prepared. I understand their reasoning - it is hard for small business owners to accommodate last minute changes and carry the cost, but not responding to a customer's multiple attempts to contact you when you just charged them in advance over $400 for dinner (for 2) is unacceptable. In addition, I believe there must be room for emergencies. A few days prior they posted on their Facebook page that they will be closed due to a "family emergency," so this concept is not foreign to them. I hope to be back, but I won't be booking in advance.

Omakase place in Davis what? Located in downtown Davis, came here on Wednesday night without a reservation and they took us in. Our server and all of the chefs were so nice and friendly, I felt like I was in Japan for a second! You get 3 options of what type of Omakase meal you want and some other options but very small menu but such good quality! I opted for the Omakase Ni (12 Course, 8 piece nigiri with 2 starts and dessert) Omakase San (14 Course, 10 piece nigiri, started and dessert). They have some drink options as well. But all so good, the chefs speak Japanese and the servers are so hospitable. There’s street parking and a parking lot close by. Their weekend menu there’s a little bit more and reservations required. So cozy inside, clean bathrooms, there are even phone chargers on the bar seating area. The dessert was also really good!

Excellent experience at Hikari Sushi & Omakase. My wife and I went recently and were really impressed by the freshness and quality of the fish. Everything was well-prepared, beautifully presented, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. If you’re looking for high-quality sushi and a great omakase experience, this place is worth it

I know of the owners from their previous spot in another location. Their food is amazingly good. The service was fast and very friendly. They prepared the sushi at the bar so it was nice to see. The wasabi is real and very tasty. I highly recommend this location.
